The theft of number plates from vehicles within our community is increasing. We are aiming to deter thieves from stealing your number plates.
Victoria Police inform that stolen number plates are being used by criminals in the theft of petrol from service stations, evade freeway tolls and Road Safety Cameras, and other crime related activities.

In some areas vehicles displaying false or stolen plates commit over 50% of petrol thefts.

Your number plates are secured by standard screws. In order to deter thieves from stealing your number plates Victoria Police recommend Replace the standard screws with ‘one way' security screws.

Bendigo Bank to raise funds for a Slip On Fire fighting appliance.

The Bayswater Volunteer Fire Brigade is currently conducting an appeal in partnership with the Bendigo Bank to raise funds for a Slip On Fire fighting appliance.

The Slip On firefighting appliance has a number of benefits over the standard fire fighting vehicle as to what we are normally accustomed to  seeing.

The Slip On is primarily a wildfire fire fighting vehicle, being more mobile and agile therefore being able to negotiate more conventional management tracks of which are commonly located within forest reserve and parks. This enables the ability to locate and combat the seat of the fire more readily thus preventing the potential spread of bush fires.

This is an extremely important wildfire fighting tactic, which lessons the risk of structures being put at risk or destroyed particularly within the forest urban interface areas. The agility of the vehicle also reduces the risk of fire entrapment by allowing the crew to manoeuvre the vehicle more readily then its larger counterparts, Tankers.

Whilst being primarily a wildfire fighting appliance the vehicle has a variety of uses during the wetter seasons where it can be utilised as crew/equipment transport for large scale incidents such as large structure fires or hazardous materials incidents. It would also be a major asset when combating storm damage/flooding incidents.

To help the Bayswater Volunteer Fire brigade reach its target, to successfully acquire a Slip on vehicle please donate at any Bendigo Bank or online at:
